Pu Tien Food in Kitchener Road
Pu Tien, a coastal city in Fujian Province, is well known for their hing hwa food. Of late, many restaurants bearing the Pu Tien title have been cropping up all over Singapore. Along Kitchener road, there are now two such restaurants, Pu Tien Restaurant and Pu Tien Seafood Restaurant. The latter started about 3 months ago. The fried bee hoon ($4) and bean curd skin with kailan ($8) are standard hing wah fare. At Pu Tien Seafood Restaurant, they are very generous with their ingredients for the fried bee hoon, so much so that the amount of bee hoon (very fine type) was insufficient for two persons. The deep fried garlic chicken ($8 for small) is a must try. The chicken skin is very crispy and the garlic enhances the taste of the tender chicken meat. Another dish worth trying is the thick fish maw soup. For $16, you get a generous amount of fish maw in the tasty thick soup. There is no GST and service charge.
