Viennese Food in Neil Road
The first time I ate wiener schnitzel was in Vienna, Austria. There, the meat was sliced very thin and the crumbs were very fine. Here, at Wiener Kaffeehaus, the schnitzel is thicker and the crumbs coarser. But the taste is just as good. It is served with buttered parsley potato and a small mixed salad. It is very filling to eat one by yourself, so share it with your dining companion(s). A plate of Wiener Schnitzel costs S$16.50. The Fiaker Gulasch (S$16.50) is quite an unusual dish. It is actually gulasch soup (beef stew) topped with bread dumpling, sausage and egg. The beef stew is lightly spiced with praprika and chilli. It goes very well with a basket of bread ($4.00). Wiener Kaffeehaus is in 148 Neil Road.
